TRIBUTE TO WENDELL RODRICKS

Wendell Rodricks was born on 28th May 1960. He was an Indian Fashion Designer located in Goa. He was also an activist for social causes, the environment, and gay rights. In 2014 Government of India conferred upon him its fourth- highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.

He grew up in Mumbai and completed his education there. He pursued his education in Los Angeles and Paris. He amazingly finished his education on his own savings and efforts. He has worked under many firms, some of them are like the National Museum of Costume and Fashion in Lisbon and another one is Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City.

Rodricks began his career in fashion by designing for garden Vareli, Lakme Cosmetics, and DeBeers. When in Paris with his first portfolio in hand, he was advised to put his own country in clothes and designs he was making. He launched his own label in 1989 with his first show held in Regal Room of the Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai. His first collection consisted of twelve ensembles. He was the first Indian designer to be invited to IGEDO (the world's largest garment fair) in 1995; the first Indian designer to open the Dubai Fashion Week in 2001, and was invited to present at the Paris Fashion Week Pret a Porter salon in 2007. He was a fellow design member of the Fashion Design Council of India. Rodricks was known for pioneering the idea of resort wear and for advocating eco-friendly fashion.

In 2010, he revived the traditional Goan attire of the Kunbi saree. He convinced Pratibha Patil, Priyanka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to be its patrons, thus increasing the cost from a meager Rs.700 to more than Rs.7000, for the benefit of the weavers. He was also a part of the khaki movement, and even promoted it at the world's largest organic fair, BioTech, at Nuremberg, Germany, in 2011 when he was invited there. In 2017, he presented a collection for plus-size women at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2017.

In 2016, he announced his retirement from his label, to concentrate on his museum. He handed over creative control to his student, Schulen Fernandes, who first worked with him in 1999. Rodricks contributed to journals of travel and art and wrote about food, especially Goan Cuisine.

In 1998, Mario Miranda requested Rodricks to write a chapter on the history of the Pano Bhaju, a traditional outfit worn to perform the mando in Goa. This inspired Rodricks to research it in detail. He interned in Lisbon and New York City, learned the Portuguese language to be able to read relevant documents, and finally traced its history to the Silk route. He finally published the results of his years of research on Goa's costumes in his first book, Moda Goa: History and Style, in 2012.

Later in 2012, Rodricks released his autobiography, titled The Green Room. It came about as the result of a writing challenge by a fellow author. In 2017, he released Poskem: Goans in the Shadows. It is a work of fiction about poskem, the adopted children of well-off Goan families, who are never treated with respect, and in some cases are even victims of abuse. The book features illustrations by Mario Miranda

From 1993 on Rodricks resided in a 450-year old house in Colyale, named "Casa Dona Maria". In 2016, he and his husband moved to a smaller house nearby to convert the larger one into a museum of Goan fashion. Named the "Moda Goa Museum and Research Centre". The museum is now slated to open to the public in March 2020. Rodricks worked on collecting exhibits for it since 1998, when he began his research into Goa's costumes and clothing. He had since collected 800 exhibits, ranging from an original pano bhaju, to Reita Faris’s bathing suit (which won her the title of Miss World in 1966), to an apsara found in a nearby field dating to a Buddhist monastery from the 7th century.

Rodricks was also one of the speakers at TEDx Panaji 2019.

Rodricks died on 12 February 2020 at his home in Goa at the age of 59. On 13 February, he had been suffering from a prolonged illness.

Maloji Raje Bhosle was a Maratha Sardar who served the Ahamadanagar Sultanate in Malik Ambar's army. He was the father of Shahaji and the grandfather of Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire. Name Shaurya itself has a very own meaning to it. Which means Bravery. A person born with the name Shaurya is with great bliss. People having this number are peaceful and pleasure-loving. Shaurya compliments Maloji really very well in every way possible. Shaurya means courageous behavior, especially in battle.
Indian history has been delivering many fashion goals in craft and silhouettes. In Maharashtra, royal history leaves a really huge impact on fashion. STYLING & Being Idiosyncratic


It’s not about which brand are you wearing, it’s all about how you are styling it. 

Styling is the way in which something simpler can look better if you wear it right. The manner in which something is expressed or performed, considered as separate from its intrinsic content, meaning, etc. A distinctive, formal, or characteristic manner of expression in dressing. The combination of distinctive features of literary or artistic expression, execution, or performance characterizing a particular person.

Your personal style is your identity and form of self- expression, so it’s important to maintain that sense of self. Style is not a display of wealth but an intangible expression of imagination power and creativity, which can be executed in a form of tangible expression.

Fashion is a trend. Style lives within a person. Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are, and every time you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself. Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever. Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style.

Dressing with style takes strategy - you just can't wear what you like. By using your clothing's color, details, fabric and fit, details, pattern, and proportion to lengthen, slim and direct attention to exactly where you want it (and away from the places you don't), you will be able to create a look that is flattering, balanced and fits with your own style personality.

Style is more character than clothes, more attitude than affluence. It's you making visible your inner self. So forget what you learned about appearance not counting; you can no longer afford to be without style. In simple words, it is the design and appearance of an object.
Style goes way beyond fashion; it is an individually distinctive way of putting ourselves together. It is a way of capturing something vibrant, making a statement about ourselves in clothes. It is what people really want when they aspire to be fashionable (if they aren't just adorning themselves in status symbols).

MAKEOVER(Finding Your New Self)

“A makeover is the rebranding of yourself.”

A makeover is a radical change in appearance. When the word is used to describe a change in human physical appearance, it may imply a change in clothing, haircut, or cosmetics. A personal makeover might also include plastic surgery, dental veneers, or contact lenses. Sometimes a makeover is used to refer to non-physical things, such as a makeover of character, personality or attitude. It can also refer to a dramatic change in construction, such as when a building is renovated or is refurbished. Makeovers are usually referred to in a positive manner, as a way to start fresh or improve your life.

People out there always have some misconceptions in between makeup and makeover, which we really would like to distinguish. Makeup and makeover have a really giant difference, whereas a makeover means to change one's appearance, it can involve cosmetics but does not have to. ... Makeup can play a major role in a makeover but is not essential. Basically, makeup refers to cosmetics, whilst a makeover is changing one's appearance as a whole.

In simpler words makeover is a complete transformation of the appearance of someone or something. According to some people being yourself and not changing at all is the best way to go on their lives. But it is really necessary to get little change in your daily routine and giving yourself a chance to be little difference. Actually getting a haircut or buying one outfit going totally out of your regular style. Change is necessary and everyone should adopt that change according to time in their respective lives.

TASTA IN LONDON

London is the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames in the south-east of England, at the head of its 50-mile (80 km) estuary leading to the North Sea, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. Londinium was founded by the Romans.

London is considered to be one of the world’s most important global cities and has been termed the world’s most powerful, most desirable, most influential, most visited, expensive, innovative, sustainable, most investment-friendly, and most popular for work city in the world. London exerts a considerable impact upon the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transportation. London ranks 26 out of 300 major cities for economic performance. It is one of the largest financial centers and has either the fifth or sixth-largest metropolitan area GDP. It is the most-visited city as measured by international arrivals and has the busiest city airport system as measured by passenger traffic. London contains different World Heritage Sites. London has a diverse range of people and cultures. The most known Fashion Weeks around the world, attracting buyers, the media, celebrities, top models and designers who proudly present their latest collections. The Fashion Week universe doesn’t end here. London Fashion Week is a clothing trade show that takes place in London twice a year, Showcasing over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers, it is one of the "Big Four" fashion weeks, along with the New York, Milan, and Paris. London is known as the fashion hub. It has a big fashion influence on the world. London is one of the leading cities in the fashion world, and somewhere around half of the specialist fashion design jobs in the United Kingdom are located in and around the city of London. In fact, around 46,400 people are currently employed by the fashion industry in London in some way or another.

For the first time in London Tasta has introduced a Maharashtrian Wedding theme. Where we did grooming for some localities and did the whole makeover to make them fit into our concept. We successfully made them all comfortable in our traditional outfits. Tasta has showcased all royal Maharashtrian wedding theme in London. Where we presented a wedding collection where we created the whole perfect mood groom and bride look. In 2018 Tasta came up with the collection named Shivjatasya which is totally inspired by The Great Maratha Warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Tasta has successfully displayed culture through SHIVAJATASYA collection which also talks about the kings and warriors of Maharashtra. We tried to introduce our history and legacy through this show.

India is the seventh-largest country by area and Maharashtra is the third largest state of India. Maharashtra has a huge influence over India because Maharashtra spans multiple cultures, Emperors and their significant work for the people and ethnicity. On which Tasta is focusing and putting all the efforts. People will get to experience totally new art, diverse culture, and distinctive designs through Tasta, which are not usually seen. Even the impact of different as well as unique culture with so much diversity. Tasta is promoting fine Indian fabrics and the country’s most talented craftspeople, Tasta has sought to redefine age-old Indian traditions in the contemporary era, creating a style that is both rich in Indian aesthetics and modern sophistication. There will be a total crew of 35 to 40 people to represent Tasta. It will be really inspiring and approachable for other brands from India.

Now, this 2020 again we are organizing an international Fashion Show which is going to be in London. This opportunity is open for kids as well as adults. Tasta will be providing a whole package in which your traveling from India and even internal traveling is included. WELCOME 2020 X LUXURY

The year 2020! Doesn’t it sound like a really fun year with a lot of achievements, success and very big goals? Actually, it is a year which can really get a lot of luxury to the one who actually is willing to achieve big things. As we entered in 2020 with a lot of excitement and hopes of being outstanding in 2020. Some people must have made a lot of resolution to make this year grand. May the New Year bring a fresh bout of excellence and new beauty to everyone’s life!

The attraction of New Year is this: The year changes, and in that change, we believe that we can change with it. And with that thought even as a normal people but being design enthusiast we Tasta has some new things coming up to welcome 2020 excitingly. Tasta is known for its royalty and extraordinary fashion. On this New Year, we have a new launching coming up which is, ‘Royal Fashion Meets Luxury brand’.

The concept for this launch is totally out of the box. Where we got inspired by some luxury vehicles brand named ‘Aston Martin’. A lavish vehicle, whenever we listen to this particular term only thing we can think about is wealth, prosperity and at last transportation. But to some, a vehicle is more than a mean of transportation. In simpler words, it’s a fashion accessory on four and sometimes two wheels. Without a doubt, exquisite and luxurious cars are beauties to behold. Speaking of speed, excellently crafted design, glamour, and the flashiness which sporty and classic vehicles radiate. However, Tasta got inspired by Aston Martin and tried our best to make it up to the mark in our clothing line.

Automobile companies and clothing brands have similarities regarding designs and protection using their conventional ways to reveal their personal and unique qualities. Luxurious car and a befitting outfit is an indication of glamorous and influential life — another two classes which car producers and cloth designers intend to give their clients. However, these qualities have been successfully created and dished out to stylish car enthusiasts via collective efforts between car brands and clothing lines. These past months we’ve seen loads of bold, well-sculpted designs and presentations. After doing systematic exploration and study of materials and sources. We reached a new conclusion where we came up with a collection with the beauty of Aston Martin.

While working on the design development we came across to minute details of Aston martin such as colors, the logo of the brand, bold look well-sculpted designs and presentable look of it. After studying all of this we started developing collection keeping all the things in mind and came up with the final line up for our collection. Where we included all medium weight fabrics to give it a stunning look, we followed Aston’s color palette and included all the key details some or the other way. This collection is all about the luxury clothing line. The collection has a variety of 3 piece blazers, trousers and shirts with color blocking detail, some asymmetry, a little embroidery, and well fittings. Which includes formals, semi-formal and casual.
